Zion National Park
from Bob Cantor's National Parks Photo Gallery

This morning view of Zion Canyon and the Virgin River was taken from the Middle Emerald Pools trail. For several hours of hiking, combine this with the lower and upper trail, or with the Kayenta Trail.
A short distance on the trail to Observation Point will take you through Echo Canyon. It's worth hiking this far even if you aren't going all the way to the top.
Starting from a canyon shuttle stop, Observation Point can be reached in a moderately difficult dayhike. Start early to avoid crowds and see Zion Canyon dramatically lit up by the morning sun.
This picture was taken on the way to Observation Point.
The scenic drive through the Kolob Canyons area of the park provides excellent views of the finger canyons at the edge of the Kolob Plateau. There are several opportunities there for hikes of varying lengths.
